    1. Hands down, the best thriller I've read this year. . ough perhaps one of the more difficult to categorize. Nate Granzow does not adhere to so many of the tropes that have become common in the modern thriller genre, eschewing the typical choice of a competent, highly-experienced spec-ops veteran as protagonist in favor of. . .well, Grant Cogar: a hard-bitten Casanova of a journalist with a Indiana Jones-like knack for getting into trouble. That being said, with Cogar's Crusade, Granzow blew me awa [...]

    2. I've followed Nate Granzow's intrepid adventurer Grant Cogar from the beginning. In that time, I've watched both author and character grow comfortable in their own skin over the course of two books. In COGAR'S DESPAIR, I was introduced to Cogar and shown a kind of hero that is rare in today's society filled with super spies and operators: an ordinary everyman placed in extraordinary situations, this one being caught between the North Koreans and mobsters. COGAR'S REVOLT took a turn for more rele [...]

    3. (I received this book as a free eARC from the writer.)Cogar's Crusade is Nate Granzow's best work yet, the third entry to feature journalist Grant Cogar. When the novel begins, a jaded Cogar finds himself losing his bearings in life. Seeing a television report on the Syrian Civil War, Cogar decides to volunteer and make a difference. He goes missing and is presumed dead, but when his editor Kailas Raahi receives a message that suggests Cogar is still alive, Kailas goes to Syria and tries to brin [...]

    4. Wisecracking journalist Grant Cogar loses himself in the Syrian civil war in this dark and bleakly humorous adventure. The novel is an episodic story of Cogar and his editor boss. Together, they flee the country, stumbling from one bleak situation to another, along with several colorful characters and troublesome villains. Granzow handles the heavy situations of the very real Syrian conflict deftly and respectfully. Through this hell on earth, which Granzow has obviously researched, Cogar finds h [...]

    5. COGAR'S CRUSADE is the third book in Cogar Adventure Series and might be the best of the three. Mr.Granzow does not write what I call throw away novels. He writes books with depth that leaves you thinking well after you've moved on to another book. Mr.Granzow may be one of the best new authors writing today. That being said,COGAR'S CRUSADE finds our hero in a very dark and dangerous place both mentally speaking and in reality. His mentor and editor, Kalias, goes in search for the missing Cogar. [...]

    6. Most authors who write series, will say that each book could be read as a stand alone. This is the case here, but I recommend you read at least one of the previous two Cogars anyway. You will get a better feeling for the relationship between Cogar and Kailas. Cogar gets an epiphany to go to Syria and Syria is a very serious place. A lot of research and feeling must have gone in to this book and you get the feeling that this is how the people, who are just trying to survive actually live. MIA for [...]

    7. This isn't the typical genre I go for but it took one chapter to pull me in and capture what would have been my undivided attention if I hadn't had to work and sleep. It took only three nights to finish because I was so eager to find out what was going to happen next or what witty/snide comments Cogar would have in any new situations.I highly recommend the book but on a day where you don't HAVE to put it down.
