    1. This was a really fun read, better than the story book collection she did I think. Well the story book collection is wonderful, but this one is more for the older readers. It's mostly not in color, but it has an actual story. Plus, we get the origin of the Scary Godmother. I've seen both movie and really liked them at the time. Kind of wish, after reading this volume, there was a TV show or more Scary Godmother.

    2. I've liked a lot of Jill Thompson's work for DC and other comics (especially Little Endless), so when I came across this collection of her Scary Godmother work, I thought I'd be enchanted. There are some good points to it, but overall I was unimpressed. Part of it was the artwork - the black and white work that makes up much of this book feels jagged and rough, and less detailed than other work of hers I've seen. It was sometimes a chore to be able to make out what was going on in a panel (and t [...]

    3. While I've never read the Scary Godmother series before, I was pleased to discover that I'd seen Thompson's work before via the Fables & Sandman series. She's got an incredibly playful touch that worked well with both series & I was delighted to be able to review this book for Netgalley. There's a lot to love about this comic book. For starters, you don't have to have read the book series to understand what's going on so if (like me) you haven't seen the SG series before you won't have an [...]

    4. Finally got around to finish this up! (Read half for Halloween, lent it to my son and he finally finished it up in February He put it back on my shelf, and I dare say, I forgot about it. Well, totally fixed that problem today and read the entire book in one sitting!)I haven't had much luck with graphic novels lately, but I'll say this was a fantastic read! Jill Thompson has always been one of my favorite artists and Scary Godmother has been a Halloween tradition in our family since it first aire [...]

    5. I've been a fan of Jill Thompson's work ever since Sandman: Brief Lives, but had never read her Scary Godmother stories. So when I saw this collection, I snapped it up and was immediately drawn into the delightful artwork and charming characters. Certain elements -- like how every chapter contains an interlude where the characters give step-by-step instructions for preparing a simple snack -- made it seem like the book had a fairly young target audience, so I expected simple, kid-oriented storie [...]

    6. Review of an advance copy:I have never read or watched any of the Scary Godmother stories, but I wasn't at all confused and found myself quite enjoying the cast of characters. I especially liked the story that explained where Scary Godmother came from, as well as the stories about the vampires. Harry's stories were pretty funny, too, but I found myself wanting someone to give him a kick in the pants. Hannah Marie is cute as a button and looks fairly young, but I think the gruesomeness of some of [...]

    7. Hanna has found a way into the world of scary monsters under her bed. She has many friends from under her bed. Scary Godmother is the central figure in this comic. There are other characters like Orson the vampire, Bug-a-Boo, and Harry that take Hanna on many adventures. As each story unfolds there is a 'treat' that they make and give instructions on how to make it so that those that are reading would be able to try the treat also. The illustrations are cleverly done. They draw the reader not on [...]

    8. I can't decide if this is a children's book or not. I got it thinking it had the Scary Godmother story I already read, planning on giving this to Clarewynn when she's old enough for comics (sometime after she's born for example), but it turns out this is a different set of stories. I liked them quite a bit, but I'm a little worried that the valentines story in particular is grown-up enough to be dull to a child. I guess I'll have to wait and see, and go buy the book I thought this was.

    9. Pretty cool comic. I liked how every so often it steered away from the current story to describe how to make some tasty treats.
