    1. 4.50 stars - rated GSugar-sweet, quiet, peaceful, short50p, occasionally farfetched, vintage Christmas story of an old country doctor and his wife hoping that perhaps some of their successful, married, and overly busy children will somehow find time to leave their big-city lives and come home to visit for the holiday. Without a whole lot of hope that their children will actually come home, the old couple decide instead to welcome into their home some neighboring young people who have fallen on [...]

    2. 3.5 STARS for the whole. I thoroughly enjoyed the first story. 4 stars for that one. Lovely writing, at times perhaps a bit overly flowery and sentimental but I don't mind extra helpings of such sweetness with my Christmas reads. I wished the sequel would be about the young lady of elfin features who loved making up fairy stories about the forest. I felt she might be a kindred spirit to one of L M Montgomery's heroines. It was a beautiful little story. Very quick read. Perhaps it was a bit of di [...]

    3. Another delightful Christmas story from Leona Dalrymple. I am really looking forward to the day I can get a hard copy of some of these books so I can reread them easily! This is the story of an aging country doctor and his wife and how they celebrate Christmas the way it should be done.

    4. Aha, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Funny at times, thought-provoking at other times--it held just the right balance. I enjoyed the two parts to it, and can hardly decide which part I liked better-- the first year or the second! They were both wonderful. A little rushed at times, if only because there are so many characters, so many events, and so much time passed. Also, once or twice mentions in passing druids in connection with Christmas, which I didn't care for but it didn't affect the plot [...]

    5. This is two short stories within one short story, each set over Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.On the minus side, I found it somewhat sickly-sweet, almost like a script for a melodramatic old movie. On the plus side, I like the author's positive energy, reminding us in the 2010s that Christmas in the 1910s was much more magical & traditional then than it is now.Best part came near the end, regarding the character Muggs - you'd have to be hard-hearted not to like this!

    6. Sweet as candy.Sweet story of Christmas yesteryear. If you watch old Christmas movies year after year, you will love this story. Cozy and warm as fuzzy slippers.

    7. It's a 19teens children's book!On a par with the Bobbsey Twins, but with some grimmer elements.which causes 4 stars as opposed to 3. A fine country Christmas.
